Reader's Wheels: 1968 Corvette C3
The 1968 Chevrolet Corvette is a classic sports car that has remained popular among car enthusiasts for over five decades. Produced by Chevrolet, it was the third generation of the Corvette and was introduced with a completely redesigned body style. The sleek and muscular exterior, combined with powerful engines and advanced technology, made the 1968 Corvette a sensation in the automotive world.
Jari Turunen found this 1968 Corvette in California where it had been stored for the last ten years. The car previously belonged to former NHL player Teemu Selänne, who is also known for his extensive car collection.
The Corvette is in really good condition and its history is well-known. The car was fully restored 20 years ago and has driven 3,700 miles since then. This Corvette is an original big-block car, but it was later replaced with a 454 cu in engine, Jari has the original 427 cu in engine in storage.
The car has a rare Tri-power carburetor, which means that the car has three two-barrel carburetors, which were only available in 1968 and 1969 Corvettes. The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. Side pipes have also been added to the car, these were offered factory-installed only in 1969 Corvettes.
